Gaelscoil Mhic Aodha.

D’oscail Gaelscoil Mhic Aodha a doirse don chéad uair ar an 28ú Lúnasa 2013. Ar an gcéad lá bhí múinteoir amháin, príomhoide na scoile Norma Ní Chonchúir agus 13 páiste, iad go léir sna Naíonáin Shóisearacha. Faoi láthair, tá 213 páiste againn sa scoil agus ochtar múinteoirí ranga, Múinteoirí Tacaíochta agus beirt Chúntóir Riachtanais Speisialta. Tá an scoil lonnaithe i mBóthar Mhelitta, i mBaile Chill Dara.

Gaelscoil Mhic Aodha opened it’s doors for the first time on 28th of August 2013. On the first day there was one teacher, the school principal, Norma Ní Chonchúir and 13 children, all in Junior Infants. We now have 213 children in our school and eight  class teachers, two special education teachers and two Special Needs Assistants. The school is located on Melitta Road, in Kildare Town.

An luath-thumoideachas – Early immersion education.

Tá a luath-thumoideachas iomlán i bhfeidhm againn sa scoil. Ciallaíonn sé seo, nach múintear Béarla go dtí an dara téarma i Naíonáin Shinsearacha. Ón gcéad lá ar scoil, labhraítear i nGaeilge amháin leis na páistí. Déantar seo chun a chinntiú gurb í an Ghaeilge teanga chumarsáide na bpáistí agus go bhfuil siad in ann tabhairt faoin gcuraclam iomlán trí mheán na Gaeilge. Tá an luath-thumoideachas iomlán aitheanta go forleathan timpeall an domhain mar an tslí is éifeachtaí chun teanga a mhúineadh do pháistí.

We adopt a full early immersion education policy in school. This means that English is not taught until the second term in Senior Infants. The children are spoken to in Irish only, from the first day of school. This is done to ensure that Irish is the communicative language of the school and to enable them to contend with the entire school curriculum through Irish. Early full immersion is recognised worldwide as the most effective way to teach a language to children.

Éiteas na scoile - School Ethos

Is Gaelscoil (bunscoil) ilchreidmheach í Gaelscoil Mhic Aodha a chuireann fáilte roimh gach duine sa scoil mar dhaoine comhionann agus a fheidhmíonn mar phobal ina bhfuil an Ghaeilge mar chéad theanga aige. Ní mhúintear aon chreideamh ar leith(sainchreidimh) taobh istigh d’amchlár oifigiúil na scoile mar atá leagtha síos ag an Roinn Oideachais & Scilleanna. Leantar an Croíchuraclam Creidimh (Clár Chroí na Scoile) atá curtha le chéile ag pobal na gaelscoile.

Gaelscoil Mhic Aodha is a muli-denominational Gaelscoil (primary school). Everyone is welcomed as an equal to the school and the school functions as a community in which Irish is the primary language. No particular (denominational) religion is taught within the official schooltimetable as set out by the Department of Education & Skills. The Croíchuraclam Creidimh Programme as composed by the Gaelscoil community is followed.
